For juniors thinking about summer 2023 internships at companies that will really stand out on their resumes, or recent graduates who are looking for their first big job out of college, the field is wide open.
More companies than ever before have great opportunities for graduates with dedicated programs in place, designed to foster and nurture talent. From the big management consultancies like Deloitte to big names in tech such as jobs site Indeed and Adobe, there are plenty of choices and a breadth of roles on offer.
Below, we’re taking a look at three companies with great graduate programs, and you can search for many more on The GradCafe Job Board too.
Microsoft
American technology company Microsoft employs approximately 221,000 people globally and around 60% of its teams are based in the U.S. With such a large workforce comes plenty of opportunities for new graduates and students across a number of programs.
The Microsoft ACE Rotation Program helps students and graduates who are pursuing marketing careers broaden their perspectives, build strong communities, and strengthen skill sets. If offers the chance to do two unique one-year job rotations, each in a different marketing group.
Or how about the Microsoft Aspire Experience, a two-year learning and development experience for those who join Microsoft after graduating from an undergraduate, masters, PhD, or a full-time MBA program. It gives new grads workplace tools to develop and empower them across positions in engineering, evangelism, finance, marketing, operations, sales and services.
Right now, Microsoft has an opening for a Research Intern – Artificial Intelligence in New York. You will work in the areas of machine learning (ML), reinforcement learning (RL), and natural language processing (NLP) to collaborate with the members of the machine learning and reinforcement learning groups, and to apply you must be currently enrolled in a relevant PhD program. You’ll also need a demonstrated ability to develop original research agendas and be able to collaborate effectively with other researchers and product development teams.
Everyone knows Google: it had a 92.47% market share of the search engine market as of June 2021. But it’s far more than just search: Google also produces Gmail, Google Contacts, Google Calendar, Google Docs Editors, Google Sites, Google Meet, Google Chat, Google Cloud Search as well as products such as connected home speakers, cameras and doorbells, phones and watches.
It’s no surprise then that its student and graduate programs are equally as comprehensive. There are STEP internships, a student training in engineering program, IT and business internships, the BOLD program for rising undergraduate seniors, and an MBA internship program – among others.
Interns work across Google, and are part of teams that include software engineering, business, user experience, and more. Internships are offered globally too, and on the BOLD program, for example, you’ll be taken through a professional development series, mentorship opportunities, leadership speaker series, and community-building activities to connect with Googlers all over the company.
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, then Google has a Senior Associate, Business Operations and Strategy, MBA University Graduate 2023 role on offer in its San Francisco office. You will need to be currently enrolled in an MBA program with an anticipated graduation date in 2023, and you’ll already have three years of experience in management consulting under your belt.
Salesforce
A leading customer relationship management software company, Salesforce’s graduate program is called Futureforce and aims to attract, retain, and cultivate the next generation of talent at the company. Interns and new graduates will get to work on real projects across all of its different business segments, including tech, product, corporate and marketing. You will have an impact on how Salesforce operates and you’ll get an opportunity to make a tangible impact on the future of the company too.
Plus, you’ll be getting an opportunity to build a career into the future. Graduates are given one-to-one mentoring, and support from their manager, but they are also given access to senior leaders. There are plenty of other networking opportunities and interns and new grads also receive seven days of paid volunteer time off to devote to causes they believe in.
Of its Futureforce teams, Salesforce says, “They’re global, they’re diverse, and they’re ready to shape the Fourth Industrial Revolution.” If you’d like to be a part of this group, the company has a number of graduate and internship roles on offer right now including a 2023 Intern – Accounting Associate in San Francisco.
This role will be for the summer of 2023 and will be suitable for those pursuing a degree in business, preferably in accounting. You’ll be a current rising junior in an undergraduate program (winter 2024, spring 2025 graduation dates) and will have completed or currently enrolled in coursework in accounting, corporate finance, economics, or strategy. You will need exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to speak in front of executive leaders and large groups as well as strong Excel modeling and data analytics skills.
